Youth Leadership Council

Youth voices create change. Texans for Safe and Drug-Free Youth’s Leadership Council empowers young leaders and helps them develop skills to become active, engaged citizens.

Youth Engaged

Our Leadership Council is chosen from a group of talented applicants, ages 16-20, from across the state. Leadership Council members are passionate, driven youth who are rising leaders in prevention. They play active roles in our Statewide Coalition and work closely with our staff and local coalitions to create community change. As a part of the Leadership Council, youth develop strong advocacy, leadership, and communication skills.

“If you’re interested in standing up and advocating for the things you really care about, you should join Texans for Safe and Drug-Free Youth’s Leadership Council.” ~Jesus Cabrales, El Paso YLC

How To Join

Membership in the Leadership Council requires an application, and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Selected students are committed for a one-year term from October through September, and take part in activities where they will learn and use leadership skills to advocate for all youth in Texas.
